I, for one, love robots, and as you can see from My Little Star Wars droid collection I have here, I would love the idea to have, say, a BB-8 or a BB unit rolling around behind me, or even say an R2 unit maybe projecting something onto the wall or following me around the house.

I’d really love that idea! Even if you’re a bit mischievous, the notion of controlling a bounty hunter to handle your less-than-honorable tasks—it’s crossed our minds. Recently, there’s been a flood of news about Apple working on a Droid or Apple robot to accompany us at home. I’m eager to delve deeper into this and reassure you that Apple won’t morph into SkyNet, dispatching Terminators. So, let’s shift gears and explore more about this Apple robot.
Mark Gman’s Report on Apple Robot Development:
The main report that we’ve had come on in, as you can see right here, is from Mark Gman. And Mark Gman is saying that this new Apple robot is Apple’s new big thing that they want to work on right now, and this new robot will essentially be a tabletop sort of robot that will follow you around the house and sort of do AI tasks and bits and pieces like that.
I will go into more details about what this essentially means in just a moment, but as you can see right here, it also does say that eventually Apple do want to work on a sort of a robot that will do sort of house sort of chores for you, but that is a long way off.

Currently, what implications does this hold for us and what functionalities can we expect from this robot? The pivotal missing piece, as I see it now, revolves around AI. With numerous leaks suggesting a major focus on AI for WWDC 2024, envisioning these AI capabilities integrated into a mobile hub like a HomePod, equipped with LiDAR sensors, Vision Pro cameras, and more, paints a picture of a potential Apple robot with advanced AI functionalities.

Now, with me saying that, you’re probably going to say, well, what’s the point in this? You might as well just get yourself HomePods in multiple different rooms like what Apple do right now, they recommend this, would say getting yourself a HomePod and HomePod minis around your house. And to be deadly honest, I did actually think the same until I went to CES earlier this year in January and I saw something from Samsung. This here is Ballie. Ballie is a robot that can follow around the house with its projector and remind you of appointments throughout the day. It will even help you do fitness around the house too.
Potential of Apple Robot Development:
- Apple can develop their own robot by leveraging existing tools and technologies.
- With the HomePod, smart home devices compatible with HomeKit, LiDAR sensors, cameras, and other components already in place,
- Apple just needs to integrate them into a unified product.
- Adding motors for mobility would be the final touch to bring their vision to life,
- Enabling them to create their own robots.
